Type Locality and Naming

Along the Kuylyuk River, basin of the Yangikurgan River, Chatkal Ridge. I.M. Nigmatjanov, 1988 (327, pp. 3-6). Stratotype on the right bank of the Kuylyuk River in its lower reaches.

Synonym: Kuypokskaya Suite, Куйлюкская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Thin-bedded limestones, grayish-brown and grayish-green, clayey, silicified with frequent inclusions of chert in the form of small rounded nodules of light gray color. Surfaces of bedding are uneven, bumpy, often with hieroglyphs of landslides and currents. Development of clayey crusts on the surface of bedding is characteristic, light green in color. In the upper part of the suite, layers of black silicites and interlayers of calcareous-clayey slates appear.

Lower contact

Lies conformably on the Kulosyn Fm

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the Karatut-Carb Fm

Regional extent

Chatkal Range (basin of the lower reaches of the Chatkal River, Kulosye River, Yangikurgan, Akbulak, Karaarcha, Ishakkupruk). Laterally, it sharply transitions into coeval biogenic masses of the Sargardon Fm.

Contains ammonoids - Merocanites djaprakensis Libr., Neopericyclus moldotoensis A.Popov., Ammonellipsites djaprakensis (Libr.); conodonts - Dollymae bouckaerti Groes., Gnathodus typicus Coop., G. pseudosemiglaber T. et F.
